"These are the OEM spark plugs as supplied and fitted to the car from Subaru."?
NGK 'Laser' are the OEM Subaru spark plugs, platinum on most engines.
NGK iridium IX are the performance upgrades.
I now run the IX plugs on my car and rate them personally.
hi what heat grade would you recomend for a 450 bhp 2.1 please.
i am running the 7s at the mo, worth changing to the 8s?
Probably heat 8, but check the condition of your plugs when you take them out for a better indication of how your engine is running.
Light brown / Grey
This is a good indication that your engine is fueling well so stick to heat grade 7 if that is what you're running
White deposits / blistered surface
This could be an indication that your spark plugs are too warm, so go for a grade 8 (one stage cooler). Other things to rule out in this case would be:
• Over advanced ignition timing
• Too lean fuel mixture
• Blocked injectors
• Insufficient cooling
• Excessive deposits in combustion chamber
• Spark plug too warm
Excess black carbon deposits
This is an indication that the plugs you run are too cold. Unlikely in this case to be honest, but if you switch to heat 8 and this happens, then you know what to look out for. Other causes of carbon build up:
• Too rich fuel mixture
• Excessive use of choke
• Prolonged low speed driving or idle
• Blocked air filter
• Spark plug too cold
Hi what plugs would you suggest for a 350bhp 2.5 wrx hawkeye?
And are the prices for a set of 4 or single plugs?
thanks
I'd try heat 7 and see how you get on, but see previous post.
Prices are inclusive of vat and delivery to UK postcodes. The price is for a set of 4 plugs. As much as i'd love to sell you a set of NGK plugs for £129, i don't think i'd stay in business for very long
