The Scoob has gone....
...on holiday
Well, my Scoob was picked up Tuesday and deposit has been paid for the rebuild
Speaking to Alan @ EngineTuner, it'll be the first Newage car with their 2.1 + S206 Combo!! Should take 3-4 weeks for the build then running in will take a few weeks. After that, it's back down for new injectors and a new ECU, maybe the new Solaris hopefully!!
Having spoken to Alan and Martyn by email and on the phone, they seem like really nice guys and it was a choice between them and David @ API, but API was a little more expensive for the 2.5!! I've heard nothing but good things from both companies but EngineTuner gets the vote
Can't wait now!! Will update this thread as and when I get any news
Merv

Glad to hear you went for this combination, it should prove to be an outstanding engine.
It will be back soon enough, run in and then ready for action.
I don't know if I could go through the torture of running then engine in for 1k miles , I like the sound of the Solaris ECU, how will you have the different profiles set up?
I think you might be a bit of a star at the next track day.

I know it's added expense there Merv but it's the only time your really going to be able to go for it, I think your bonnet will be up far more in the future as well so we don't want to here regrets from you
Awesome Merv
What sort of power do the s206 turbos make??
Like the sound of the Solaris ECU got to be either that or a Simtek really, just depends weather u need the extra function over the simtek for the extra cost.
I'd defo get the engine bay painted whilst the engine is out, coz hopefully it won't have to come back out again.

Have you thought about uprating the brakes, clutch/gearbox whilst your wallet is open?
Sweet The Ring is awesome, you'll love it!!
Getting a clutch from Aztec Performance which will take 500 torques The gearbox is good for c600 I think!!

The S206 is good for c500/500 Dean, if mine makes close to that I'll be a happy bunny Think I'm edging towards the SimTek mainly coz of the extra cost!!

What's the price difference between the Solaris and Simtek ecu's?.
Sintek is £895+vat and about £150 for the Anti-lag and Lauch Control option and i think the Solaris is about £1500+Vat, all including fitting and mapping.

looks like mine will be taking a holiday soon, Found out on friday that one or more of the of the cylinders has balloned, so it's going to need a rebuild soon, still drives fine but smoking a little whilst on boost.
I'm not that bothered really, I got the car at a good price and once that is done hopefully the car will see me trouble free for a few years.
Atleast with mine It's already got everyting needed for big power so it's only a new bottom end needed
Can you pm me some prices you were quoted for the 2.5 merv

Have you carried out a leak down test on each cylinder and if so what was your percentage of air loss?. Also has your car been over fueling?, as this can be a common cause for piston ring blow by especially during the running in stage.
