Car not needed
|
|
Well guys, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to jump ship for a while. I've come to a decision about my career and finances and put some rather radical changes into action. The Scoob will be going up for sale in the near future to allow the finances to pursue my new business venture. It will be replaced by a Seat Ibiza Cupra PD160 diesel with Revo remap and Milltek zorst, making it good for 208bhp and 326 lb/ft of torque This will be switchable via either a switchable map or a boost controller so that when my students are in the car, they can't have as much fun as me That's right, students. Today I enrolled to become a driving instructor The plan is to get qualified and begin training people, as well as still working in printing on the weekends, until such a time as the instructing is profitable enough to ditch the printing and hopefully re-enter the Scooby scene with something a bit more exciting.
The workload I will be undertaking may mean I cannot be as active within the club as I have previously, but I will still be coming to meets (who groaned) and will one day soon get another Impreza. For now, I need to put mine through its 40k service, get a bit of paint damage on the front bumper sorted, and get her advertised.
So, my fuel bills should plummet with 45-60mpg possible. My insurance should drop to around £250. My vehicle should start to make me a living, instead of bankrupting me. But my God will I miss the burble, the surge of acceleration on boost, the grip and fantastic cornering, the admiring glances from chavs everywhere I go I'll be needing a supercool livery at some point Sticky, and some advice on marketing wouldn't go amiss Chris, and as I say, if I make this a success I should be back behind a scoop within a year or two
Wish me luck folks

You were there at the start with the Corrado and the Cupra will make no difference when you do make it down (and with 326 Ft/Lb's, I'm sure it wont make any difference on a mid month run..!!)
Anyway, I'm sure the last Thursday can be your only evening off.. or I'm sure the student won't mind a stop off for a shandy and a looksee at the cars they'd like to be driving once they've saved for 10 years to get the insurance..
Either way, I can't see you NOT making the end of month at least..
All the best with your new venture my friend, if there's anything I can do... you only have to ask.
BTW.. I'd like to book my Lad in for his first lesson now please.. 2nd Dec 2008... 10am. My gaff. Club discount of course. Ta.

Bl00dy hell Dave. I know you mentioned a bit back that you could do with something to take up your 'free' time, but this is a bolt from the blue!
So, this driving school, thought of any names?
How about (as it's you doing the instructing) 'Opposite Lock' or 'Sideways!'
Get in touch and let me know when you have something definite and I'll have a play with some ideas.
Best of luck, mate, and remember, in 18 months or so the Evo X may be upon us, so you'll no longer need to drive round in a 'stop-gap' thingy
I'll get me coat

Dave - At first I thought we'd wound the clock back to April 1st.... Then I remembered we'd had the conversation a while ago about the driving instructor route.
Best of luck with the new venture - I know you'll make it succeed. And Ibizas aren't all that bad, as I'm sure you'll recall...
See ya both at the next one!

So here I am swanning around in Oz just thought I would kill some time and check what's happening back home and I see this
WTF, Dave the B road kid is selling his Scoob, it just ain't right!!!!!!
I was just thinking about getting back and following that very shiny blue scoob down some twisty roads to a meet when I got back in mine and now all those hopes have been dashed
Oh well at least now I will have a slim chance of actually keeping up with zeee twisty meister
All the best with the new venture mate, I'm sure with your enthusiasm for driving it'll be a success, as for a name how about 'Driving Ambition'?
