My classic had 277mm discs when I got it and I have already upgraded to 295mm discs and MY05 Subaru 4 pots with Red Stuff pads but after my track action on Sunday I am thinking about upgrading my brakes again

I have been looking at K Sports (dont think I want these), D2's (dont like the colour), Brembo's (expensive), AP's (expensive) and Scooby Clinic's 6 pot converstion (nice kit)

What other options are there?

What do you guys have and what do you think of them?

I should mention I have 17" wheels and would rather not change to 18's

17x ? ET? a lot is going to depend on the wheels if you want to keep them.

They are nice wheels, I wanted these but decided against them as the ET was too low on a 7.5 in width to chance track day scrubbing.

I have a classic MY97 WRX with 330mm 6 pot KAD kit and standard rear with ventilated disc. Car only weighs 1120 kilos, so it stops rather well.:)

Thought they were awesome until i bought my new bugeye Sti with AP 330 6 pots and 2 pot gold Brembos at the rear. Holy sheet does this thing stop, :freak3: despite an extra 200 kilos. I would say AP, although I do not know how much the rear Brembos help. I own both cars at the moment and have swapped between the two so it is not from memory. Stops sooner and with better pedal feel. Less mushiness. Although both do not fade.

I know not very technical and I do not know how different the braking systems are between a classic and bugeye and what bearing this has on the feel and stopping power.

my wheels are 7x17 and et45

was swaying toward the Scooby Clinic 6 pots, had read about the Godspeed conversion. I believe you have to fit spacers in the Subaru 4 pot calipers to widen them to suit the thicker discs
how long did you wait for delivery? they use Jag XJS pads dont they? same as 53WRX's question what size wheels you running? 17x ? ET?
let me know how you get on with the fitting

is anyone running the Scooby Clinic kit?

I'm also in the process of choosing bigger brakes for my classic. Have a word with Ian at Godspeed about the options.

Ive thought about Ksports but i dont think theyre gonna fit at the front.

Yep the spacer brackets for the calipers all come complete with the kit matey. If u order Ian should have them with u in a couple of days at the most....not sure what pads he uses for the kit. My wheels are the standard 17 inch prodrive speedlines as fitted to the RB5 and i know they fit under these wheels, not sure what offset mate though:wonder:

Got Godspeed Brembos at the front with 335mm discs and cf pads.
At the rear are a pair of 2005 STi Brembo calipers and discs, fitted with Ian's fitting kit.

'98 UK turbo running over 300bhp, with 2004 WRX gunmetal 17" wheels.

Car will stop on an (old) sixpence;)

We can do 304mm 6 pots for the front if you need something smaller than 330 :)

If KSport are good enough for Zen, they should be good enough for you guys ;)

The 304s are included on the group buy so are going for as little as £660! :D

RB5 boyo, you paid £610 for 2 discs and some pads when you could have got K-sport 8pots for £74 more

If they are good enough for Zen's Time Attack car I'm sure their more than adequate for your needs mate :)

I have classic shape UK Impreza and run StopTech brakes kit on the front, which is 332 * 32mm rotors and 4 pot ST40 calipers - using Hawk DTC70 pads.
At the rear I recently changed to Godspeed 326mm rotors with fitting kit to retain original single piston calipers, pads are Mintex something or others.
Am alsi using goodridge hoses, brake stopper and millers fluid. Ian can supply AP 4 pots for rear to match the disc.
The car as lots of other complimenting mods that require good stopping power, as I use the car for track days only really.

I have 17" rota wheels with ET48 offset, and they clear the calipers fne. The stopping power is awesome - and is the same lap after lap, and the wear on the pads after 3 open pit full day track days is tiny.

I use the standard road pads for road use, the ST40 calipers have a plate that allows access to change the pads in 10 mins, once they have cooled off a bit!!!

I got my fronts from Jikan Motorsport, and rears obviously from Ian Godney.

Having had a quick look over the Ksport setups on the TA cars. I can honestly say they look as high quality as my 356mm AP Racing 6 pot setup.

As far as i know they come with high quality AP discs too. Much better discs than any big disc kit ive seen that are usually made from machined BMW discs that end up warping like crazy.

Had these of been as tried and tested then as they are now i may well have opted for the Ksports over the AP setup.

Could of got the reas too for the price i paid for my AP front setup.

StopTech, same as Zen used last year. Awesome.
The K-Sport brakes are a lovely piece of engineering, as said, if good enough to sponsor TA this year and be used by Zen and other top teams they have to have a good product. Friend has just fitted front and rears to his EVO8MR and the stopping is fierce but progressive.
