I thought the thread was going to go the other way, going by the title
Standard pads are made to be quiet, work from cold and perform normal braking. They will always give stop well from high speed once, but trying that again a couple of times straight after without cooling the brakes
Always best to have a pad that fits in with your particular style of driving and the cars usage.
Some people don't need any more than standard pads whilst others need full on race compounds (on the road!)
i had a similar experience going from EBC Red's to DS2500's, the pedal feels harder for some reason with the DS's but the car stops a lot more progressively than on the ebc's, also noticed that the disc surface is a lot smother and duller in appearance after the switch.
Exactly what I found Tazz - although I did go to AP's at the same time - initally I was disappointed as I felt I had to press the pedal harder when compared to the redstuff on the OE setup, however the first time I braked for a roundabout from speed I noticed that I did not need to increase the pressure over the duation of braking as the bite remained constant - also the car actually stopped at the second roundabout!
