Removing Rear Discs

I have done my front discs ans pads which were a piece of piss.

But I take it the rear's aren't as easy due to the handbrake drum? Is this on both discs?

How do you go about doing it? Any guides please?

There's a small inspection hole in the bottom of the hub, remove the rubber grommet and you should see a handbrake shoe adjuster wheel, with a flat blade screwdriver, back it off. then the disc should knock off.

Wind it right back up on the new disc then back it off a little so the hub turns free.

Yes

Your basically winding the shoes away from the internal drum part of the disc.

Also: there are two M8 tapped holes in the rear discs. you can thread a couple of M8 bolts into them, screw in hand tight, then turn each one a turn at a time to force the disc off.

DO ensure you have the handbrake loose though, or this method can bend parts.

It's not that difficult. The only major issue that you might encounter is if either of the adjusters are seized (this happened to me when I did my rear discs). I had to smack the discs off with a hammer, which bent them, although it didn't matter since I was replacing them anyway.

You might need to use some grease on the rubber grommets to get them back into the holes.

grease is not good: a good altertnative is washing up liquid.

All done

1st side I didn't loosen the thingy off enough, so was tight to get off, and I popped something off from the show. I was a retainer type thing, which had a small spring and a cap on it. The cap popped off. Hopefully it will be ok though!

2nd side took no time at all which was good

The rubber grommets went back in nice and easy too. Plus the handbrake is tighter now which is good as well.

So....all's good really
